What is Retained Executive Search?
Executive search is a knowledge based consultancy service, which
focuses on assisting organizations to find and attract talented
individuals with the appropriate blend of skills, experience and
knowledge for appointment and successful performance in leadership
executive or professional roles. The ability to recruit and
retain such talented people is increasingly the principal differentiating
factor between organizations that are market leaders and other ordinary
companies/organizations. Sometimes popularly referred to as
Head-Hunters executive search is internationally recognized as
a key resource in the competition for talented and performing individuals
by ambitious and forward-looking organizations. There are
two types of executive recruiters:
Retained Executive Search Firm
Retained executive search consulting firms such as Rasd Executive Search Consultants - Amrop
Hever Group,
are retained by clients to provide a broad consultancy-based service
that ultimately results in the introduction of capable and talented
candidates for placement in key positions. The executive search
firm utilizes a state-of-the-art process to achieve this objective.
In consultation with the client, the search firm develops comprehensive
in-depth understanding of the position to be filled and the culture
of the client. The Search firm (also known as head hunter) designs specific research project
to demarcate the universe of candidate best suited for the position.
The candidates identified would possess rather remarkable
qualities and are not usually seeking a change of position.
The firm then conducts candidates' qualification and development
through extensive face-to-face interviewing in preparation for candidates'
introduction to the client. The search firm provides through a reservoir
of knowledge and experience and counselling and expert advice to client
and candidates to assist them in achieving agreement and closure.
The Executive Search profession exclusively adopts the retainer
principle for consultancy services rendered, as is the case of management
consulting or legal profession, to assure focus of the retained
executive search firm upon the task of finding the best possible
solution and to prevent conflict-of-interest issues. [See more about
Search Process on this site and on our Group website at www.amrophever.com].
Conventional/Contingency Recruiting
Conventional (or Contingency) search/recruitment is a recognized
professional service that addresses a specific market need, which
is different from Retained Executive Search. Contingency search
tends to address lower-and middle-management positions, where there
are likely to be a larger universe of suitably qualified candidates
and where the skills required are of a generic nature. Selection
of candidates is undertaken from a randomly compiled candidates'
universe as opposed to scrupulous demarcation of a specific candidates'
universe for each search project as is the case with retained executive
search. In the case of conventional recruiting firms, the bulk of candidate
pools are those seeking a change in career or those candidates who
are currently not employed. As a result of economic feasibility
consideration, contingency search/recruitment cannot adopt the methods
of retained executive search of tailored research, qualification
and development of candidates.
The client pays fees to contingency search firm only when client
actually hires a candidate introduced by the firm. For such
an enterprise to succeed as a going-business-concern, the conventional recruiting
firm charges fees to both candidates and clients to augment income
of the business. Rasd Executive Search is a leading retained executive search firm operating in the Middle East region, including Dubai, United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Qatar, Bahrain, Jordan, Egypt, Lebanon and other countries in the GCC (Gulf Cooperation Council).
